Endometriosis symptoms

        Endometriosis is a serious disease and affected women are stigmatized in many ways:

  • Mental: irritability, poor integration into society, aware of his disability
  • Emotional: pain sometimes reaches unbearable, the woman's infertility and the inability to achieve one of the goals of its existence, conception;
  • Seizures, hemoptysis or cardiac arrhythmias, depending on lesion location.
  • Physical injuries , architectural distortion and histology of reproductive organs;

       Endometriosis symptoms are very important in order to diagnose the disease. Endometriosis can be mild, moderate or severe and tends to worsen over time in the absence of appropriate treatment. Some women with endometriosis do not have signs and and endometriosis symptoms and the disease is discovered during surgery for another condition.

       During menstruation there are several endometriosis symptoms:

  • Menstruation that lasts more than eight days
  • Menstrual flow (menorrhagia)
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) - pain usually occurs on the second day of menstruation, then progressively worse. Menstrual cramps can start before your period, persist for several days and may be associated with back pain or abdominal pain.
  • Menstruating early (before 11 years)

       Other endometriosis symptoms occur less frequently and usually occur around ovulation: (sometimes unrelated to menstruation)

  • Pain during intercourse
  • Outside menstrual bleeding
  • Other leg pain or bladder pain
  • Urinary problems
  • Pain triggered by changing position
  • (Sometimes) blood in urine or stool

       Appearance of pain, and it's repeatability are clues that may lead to the diagnosis of endometriosis. Menstrual cramps are normal. But in women with endometriosis are more painful than normal and over time tend to increase in intensity. Pain is a common symptom of endometriosis. However, its intensity is not an accurate indicator of the severity of disease. Some women with mild endometriosis have pain while others have no symptoms.

        One of the endometriosis symptoms is pain in the lower abdomen that radiates sometimes in the lower back. The pain caused by endometriosis has the distinction of being progressive and often occur on one side of the abdomen more than the other.

       Endometriosis does not increase menstrual flow. The pain intensity can not indicate the extent or severity of the disease. The severity of symptoms depends more on where the lesions of endometriosis are located, and their size.

People at risk

  • Women who never had children.
  • Women with a close relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has endometriosis.
  • The white women or Asian.
  • Women with a birth defect that narrows the cervix, which impedes the flow of menstrual discharge.
  • To a lesser degree, women who have had early menstruation or are having a shorter menstrual cycle.

       No risk factor is actually established.

Prevention

       Can it be prevented?

       We can not prevent it because endometriosis does not have a cause. Doctors often say that endometriosis is a disease whose symptoms indicate absolutely nothing. Some patients who suffer from endometriosis experience no particular sensation, while others have a painful disorder.

       There are no symptoms specifically related to endometriosis. Some women with this disorder have abnormal vaginal bleeding, but the majority do not. Severe menstrual cramps can indicate endometriosis, but also derive from many other factors or have no particular cause. By cons, menstrual cramps, which begin to deteriorate after the age of 20 are more likely to represent a sign of endometriosis. Infertility is another possible symptom. It can be caused by endometriosis, which is a major cause of fertility problems, but it can also result from other diseases or be related to the partner.

       Cysts and scar tissue can be formed around the vagina, making intercourse painful. Pain during intercourse may indicate a case of endometriosis, but this symptom can also be caused by other diseases. The endometrial tissue may be extended in one or both ovaries in women with endometriosis. It can form cysts called endometrioma. These cysts are a common cause of infertility and should be removed surgically.
